Checkbox Grid Component
The Checkbox Grid component is a powerful addition to your form-building toolkit. It allows users to select multiple options per row in a grid format, making it ideal for questions where several answers can be correct across rows.

Why Use the Checkbox Grid?
Unlike the Multiple Choice Grid, where users can only select one option per row, the Checkbox Grid provides checkboxes, enabling multiple selections within each row. It’s perfect for creating flexible and dynamic questionnaires or quizzes.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Start by filling out the Question and Description fields to suit your specific needs.
- Optionally, include an image to provide visual context by pasting an Image URL.
- Set the question as Required if you want respondents to answer it before proceeding.
- Enable Shuffle to randomize the order of rows for each respondent. This is especially useful in quizzes.
- Configure the grid:
- Fill in the Row Names.
- Enter the Column Headers.
- Add or remove rows and columns as needed by dragging or editing in the Google Sheet.
- For quizzes, define the correct answers:
- Specify which options in each row are correct.
- For example, in a question about Paris landmarks, the correct answers might be Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Louvre Museum.
Generating Your Form
Once your grid is set up, follow these steps to add it to your form:
- Go to the Extensions menu in Google Sheets.
- Select Form Builder Pro and click Generate Form.
- Open the generated form in View Mode to see the Checkbox Grid in action.
Key Features in Action
Here’s what you’ll notice when using the form:
- The grid rows and columns appear as configured in the sheet.
- Shuffle ensures that the order of rows changes for each respondent. To keep the order consistent, disable Shuffle.
- Correct answers are pre-configured in the Answer Key, visible in Edit Mode for quizzes.
